The Bandit Spotlight is an opportunity for you to learn a little more about one Southwest Louisiana's citizen-soldiers.

Sergeant Edward Julian Thompson

I attended Elizabeth High School and graduated with honors (3.8 GPA) in 1996.  I later joined the Army National Guard on November 4, 1996, upon completion of my training, I began my studies at McNeese State University - then I married my wife in April of 1997. We have 4 children .  I began my career in Security, with the help of my Military Training, I worked for the State Prison System, where I became a S.O.R.T. ( special operations response team) member, and became a K-9 Officer.  This furthered my career by allowing me to become an Officer for the Federal Bureau of Prisons.  It then later allowed me to climb to the position I am in with Day & Zimmermann Security Services ( in less than one year of employment).  All my accomplishments would not have been made with out my military training.

Deployed to Iraq, I feel great about it, granted no one enjoys the family separation, but the bond between my family and I grew stronger and with the soldiers I served with on a daily basis.
